This is not the first case of cows dying on the highway. A few days ago, nine cows died in Sirgitti police station area and before that, 16 cows had died in similar accidents.

Naiduniya, Representative Bilaspur. A major accident took place on the under construction highway between village Darrighat and Korba in Masturi police station area. Here, near village Eramsahi, at around 5 am in the morning, more than 20 cattle were hit by a truck, due to which 18 died on the spot. On getting the news of the incident, a large number of villagers gathered at the spot and started expressing anger. Police also reached the spot and tried to pacify the villagers.
Cows are dying in road accidents in Sarkanda, Mopka and Sakri areas. The government is running schemes for the protection of cows, but they do not seem to be successful. Recently, Collector Avnish Sharan has given clear instructions in a meeting of district level officials that cattle owners who leave cows open on the road should be held guilty. This decision shows seriousness towards the safety of cows, but the situation still remains worrisome.
The need for protection of cows
It is extremely important to make awareness campaigns and effective plans for the protection of cows. It should be ensured that how dangerous it can be to leave cows loose on the road. Proper implementation of government schemes is important. People also need to work sensitively in this matter.
