Bilaspur. On Monday, the rescue team of Kanha Pendari Zoo reached Khudiya to catch the foxes that attacked the villagers. The members of the rescue team searched the whole day. Apart from this, a trap was laid by tying a rooster in the cage. The department hopes that as soon as the foxes enter the cage in greed for the rooster, they will get trapped.
The injured villagers are from Khudiya, Karidongari and Darwaza villages. After getting information about the incident, the department swung into action. To ensure that no other villager becomes a victim, the Mungeli Forest Division decided to rescue the fox. Under this, help was sought from the rescue team of Kanha Pendari Zoo. The team led by wildlife doctor Dr. PK Chandan reached Khudiya on Monday morning at 10 am. They brought along with them a cage in addition to rescue equipment. The cage was placed at the place where the incident took place and a rooster was tied inside it. After taking this measure, forest workers were put on duty. The plan is also that if the fox is seen, it will be made unconscious with a tranquilizer gun. However, there was no success on the first day. An attempt will be made again on Tuesday. It is being told that the number of foxes is between two and three.
They become aggressive if their residence is flooded or if they are disturbed
Mungeli DFO Sanjay Yadav says that foxes are not dangerous animals, but if their habitat gets flooded or disturbed and they have to come out, then in that situation sometimes they become aggressive and attack. This could possibly be the case in Khudiya range as well. Wildlife veterinarian Dr. PK Chandan also gave the same reason. He also says that some villagers are saying that it is a jackal instead of a fox. But, until it is caught, nothing can be said for sure.
The incident happened in Fadhakhar four months ago
This is not the first incident of fox attack. Four months ago, a fox injured a watchman named Nageshwar Kumar in the Fadhakhar forest area of Bilaspur forest division. Deputy Ranger Jitendra Sahu says that this incident happened during the construction of a pond. The watchman was put on duty to monitor this work. When foxes feel unsafe in their habitat, they suddenly attack like this.
