Bhoot Ke Dar Ki Kahani: Aman reached Delhi bus stand at ten in the night. When I inquired about the bus going to Rampur, I found out that the bus would leave at 10:30 and would reach Rampur at around 2 in the night.
Aman used to work in a government office. He had to go to the Panchayat office in Rampur for some important work. He sat in the bus, the bus was still empty. Only two-four passengers were sitting.
The bus left at 10:30. While taking the ticket from the conductor, Aman asked –
Peace: Brother, will you get a ride to the village from the bus stand at night?
Conductor: If you listen to me then don't get down at Rampur, get down further in the city which is twenty miles from there. Stay in a hotel there and come to Rampur in the morning.
Aman did not understand what the conductor was saying, he said –
Peace: No brother, I have to go to Rampur only. Have to return tomorrow after completing the work.
The bus was moving and many passengers were sitting. The bus reached Rampur bus stand at around 2.30 in the night. Aman was getting down from the bus when some passengers refused him but Aman did not agree and got down at the bus stand.
The bus stand was completely empty. When he went inside, there was no one even at the ticket counter. Aman sat on a bench nearby.
Peace: Looks like no one is here. I will spend the night here at the ticket counter and will go to the village in the morning.
He reaches the gate of the ticket counter, but it was locked.
Aman gives up and sits on the same bench. There was a tea shop at some distance. He reaches there. There was no one there either. There was a bench lying inside the shop, Aman lies down there with his bag under his head.
After some time he hears the sound of someone walking. When he came out of the shop and looked outside, he saw a man covered in a blanket, probably with a beedi in his hand, going towards the village.
Peace: Hey brother, wait, are you going to the village?
The man did not stop and kept going straight. Aman ran to him. He saw an old man whose complexion was completely black. He stopped after seeing Aman.
Man: What is my path, why is it blocked?
Peace: Brother, take me along too, we have to go to the village.
Man: It is not right to go at this time, sleep here and go to the village in the morning.
Peace: But you are also going. I go with you.
Man: It's okay, it's your choice, but don't tell me later, I was not told. Where do you urban people believe in anything? Let us go.
Both of them go towards the village through the fields.
Man: Do you believe in ghosts?
Peace: No, ghosts are nothing.
Man: Do you smoke beedi?
Peace: No.
Man: I will light the beedi and walk holding it in your hand, otherwise you will not be able to cross this field. It will be better if you have fire in your hand.
Aman was feeling very strange but he considered it better to obey the man and took the burning beedi in his hand.
Man: If someone calls from behind, don't look back. No matter who it is.
Aman was following the man. Then he heard the sound of a girl crying.
Peace: Brother, it looks like some girl is in trouble.
Man: You will get me killed too, this is all an illusion, follow me quietly and don't look back.
After going some distance further, a well appeared.
Peace: Brother, you can drink water here, you are very thirsty.
Man: No, it is not right to stay here at night. If we stop, the villagers will find our dead bodies in the morning. Keep walking quietly.
Aman started following the man silently. Suddenly Aman felt as if someone had grabbed his legs and he was not able to lift them. He was moving forward with great difficulty.
Peace Shouted loudly: Brother, I can't go away now. Sit for some time.
Man: Looks like your beedi is extinguished.
Aman saw that his beedi had indeed been extinguished.
Man: Some shadow has caught you, I give you my hand, hold it and come with me, I cannot look back.
Aman holds the man's hand. The man almost drags her and starts walking. While walking some distance in this dilemma, Amar's feet become light.
Peace: Brother, it is fine now, I am able to walk.
Man: You don't know that you have just escaped from the jaws of death. I had fire in my hand which saved you.
Within some time both of them reached the village. It was almost morning. The man took Aman to his home. His wife was at home.
Wife: How many times have I told you not to come at night?
Man: I am not afraid of anyone, this urban babu was afraid, he was even caught by a ghost. Got them freed too. You sit. Go make tea for them.
Aman was very scared. He said –
Peace: Do the villagers not go anywhere at night?
Man: No, there is a guard of ghosts outside the village. Whoever went did not come back.
Peace: Where were you coming from?
Man: I often go out to search for my son. Like you, he also went on that route at night but did not return.
After some time, it was morning and Aman went to Panchayat home and after finishing his work, he started going back, so he first went to that man's house.
Peace: Baba I am going back. thank you so much.
Man: Son, make me a promise, no matter how important the work is, don't come back to this village. But now the question is how will you go?
Peace: Why can't you go even during the day?
Man: Now you cannot go out of this village, you have to stay here. I was refusing you. To come here but you did not agree. Those spirits saw you at night, now they will not leave you and if they cannot do anything here, they will reach your house. If you want to protect your family, then settle in this village.
Aman gets very scared. Starts living in an old house behind the village. Many months pass by.
One day Aman goes to that man's house and holds his feet.
Peace: Baba, please somehow get me out of this village. I want to go to my home.
Man: You wanted to come to this village. Apart from you, many other people had come to this village from the city, some tried to go and were killed. Some live in this village, but no one has the courage to tell you anything. Stay here quietly or you will be killed.
The people of the village take full care of the people coming here from outside. Food, drink, place to stay, everything will be available.
Here Aman had his wife and a daughter at home. To search for Aman, she sometimes went to the police post, sometimes to his office, but there was no trace of Aman.
Within a few days, the government declared him dead and started giving pension to his wife.
Seven years passed like this. One day the villagers were dancing and singing outside. Then Aman came out and the villagers told him the reason for their happiness –
Man: Son, twelve years ago a Tantrik had come to our village. The villagers beat him and chased him away. From then on he summoned the spirits and bound this village. No one can go out of the village.
Now a Sadhu Baba has come to the village, tomorrow he will perform puja due to which this village will be freed from bondage and all the souls will get freedom. You can also go to your home.
The next day the entire village was decorated. The Sadhu and his disciples performed Havan in the middle of the village. The villagers heard the voices of many souls during the havan. By the time the havan ended, everything became quiet.
The village was now free from the curse. Aman also came out of the village along with Sadhu Baba and others. From there he took a bus and reached his home.
After reaching home, Aman heaved a sigh of relief.
