Ambikapur. The body of Rajesh Paikara (31), a resident of Ghughrikala village under Kusmi police station, was found in a well in Navdiha on September 17. The in-laws had informed the police that Rajesh had slipped and fallen into the well. When the post-mortem report confirmed murder, the police began investigating and found out that Rajesh’s wife had killed him with the help of her brothers and his friends.
Police investigation revealed that Rajesh Paikara along with his wife Sunti and two children had gone to Navdih to celebrate Karma festival on 14th September at 7 pm. On 15th September, the deceased Rajesh Paikara, his three brothers-in-law and two other accused were consuming alcohol. While drinking alcohol, Rajesh Paikara abused his wife Sunti and brothers-in-law in an inebriated state. Enraged by this, his wife and six others beat Rajesh with fists and sticks. They took him out of the village. When Rajesh started shouting, the accused strangled him.
They tried to hide evidence by throwing his body in a well. Police arrested the deceased Rajesh Paikra’s wife Sunti (30), brother-in-law Sudhan Paikra (23), Sudesh Paikra (22), Vidhayak Paikra (19), Chhotu Sonwani (20) of the same village and a juvenile boy on charges of murder and hiding evidence. On the orders of the court, all of them have been sent to jail.
