Delay in construction of Swami Atmanand School: Contractors fined more than Rs 45 lakh

Mungeli. A fine of more than Rs 45 lakh has been imposed on contractors for delaying the construction work of Swami Atmanand English Medium Schools. The administration has given a strict warning that if the construction work is not completed within the time limit, more penalties will be imposed.

Mungeli Collector Rahul Dev had expressed his displeasure over the slow construction work of Swami Atmanand schools in Lalpur police station, Sargaon, Motimpur, Patharia and Lormi. He had instructed the concerned officials to investigate the negligence of the contractors and take necessary action.

Construction not done in 11 months, fine imposed

Executive Engineer in-charge of Rural Engineering Services Department, P.L. Padwar said that the work order for the construction of a school in Lalpur police station was issued on 11 February 2023, which was to be completed in 11 months. But till now the contractor has not completed the work, due to which a late fee of Rs 10 lakh 23 thousand 661 has been imposed on him and instructions have been given to complete the work by January 31, 2025.

The order for the construction of Sargaon School was issued on 15 May 2023, which was to be completed by 14 April 2024. Due to delay, a fine of Rs 9 lakh 22 thousand 453 has been imposed on the contractor and he has been asked to complete the work by March 31, 2025.

Similarly, a fine of Rs 13 lakh 21 thousand has been imposed on the contractor for delay in construction work in Motimpur, while in Patharia, a fine of Rs 8 lakh 42 thousand has been imposed and instructions have been given to complete the work by 26 February 2025. For delay in Lormi, a fine of Rs 4 lakh 27 thousand has been imposed and a warning has been given to complete the work by 5 February 2025.
