What was special in Daai Akshar Prem Ke?
24 years ago, on 29 September 2000, a film was released named Dhai Akshar Prem Ke. It featured Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan. There was such a big star cast, yet the film bombed at the box office. People liked the pairing of Abhishek and Aishwarya, but the story of the film did not win their hearts.
Maker's trick: Salman's entry
The makers had also got the entry of Salman Khan to make the film a hit. At that time, there were a lot of discussions about Salman and Aishwarya's affair, so the makers thought that they would take advantage of these rumors and make the film a hit. Salman's role was very small. He became a truck driver and appeared in films only for a short time. Nevertheless, this ploy failed.
The story lacked substance, that's why it flopped
The story of the film did not have the power to captivate the audience. Raj Kanwar had directed the film, but it could not reach the hearts of the audience. Even though Abhishek and Aishwarya's chemistry was liked, the film could not do anything special. This film earned only Rs 16.30 crore worldwide, whereas Rs 9 crore was spent in making it. That means it got the tag of flop at the box office.
Was this film a remake?
You will be surprised to know that this film was a remake of the 1995 Hollywood film A Walk in Clouds. This Hollywood film itself was based on the 1942 Italian film Quattro passi fra le Nuvole. But despite being a remake, Dhai Akshar Prem could not do anything at the box office. Yes, its songs were definitely superhit, which people listen to even today.
The songs created a stir
The songs of the film Dhai Akshar Prem Ke, Mera Mann, and Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani are still included in people's playlists. Even though the film flopped, the songs were well liked.
