Jamshedpur: Alia Bhatt starrer film Jigra is going to hit the theaters soon. Karan Johar is associated with this film of Alia Bhatt as a producer and Vasan Bala is responsible for the director. By the way, this film also has a very special connection with Jamshedpur because Kumar Abhishek of Jamshedpur is associated with this film as an assistant director. Before this, Kumar Abhishek was a part of Vicky Kaushal's film Sam Bahadur. He shared the shooting of the film Jigra and the challenges related to it with Urmila Kori.
Jigra was more difficult than Sam Bahadur
Sam Bahadur was a big film. Its budget was also high, but Jigra is a small budget film. Generally people think that if it is a Dharma production film, then its budget will be high. But this does not happen. Every film has its own budget. Many times what happens is that the production house gives more budget to the promotion of the film than to the making. Same thing happened with this film also. The production did not get much money, so it was difficult for us to shoot within the limited budget. Especially with Vasan Bala's vision. Which was very ambitious. In such a situation, bringing his vision on screen. It was very challenging for him as well as his entire crew.
The challenge was to show India abroad
Looking at the trailer of the film, you might have guessed that this film has been shot abroad, but I would like to tell you that 90% of this film has been shot in India. That too in Mumbai. Only 10% shooting took place abroad. Only top view or shots showing the city have been shot abroad. From this you can understand that we had to show a complete foreign country in India. Due to which our hard work increased. We had to work on everything from cars, clothes to the people around us. Before shooting the film, we researched which vehicles are common between South East Asian countries and India, then we also did artwork on the vehicles. Talking about taxis in India, Indica, Indigo, WagonR are such normal taxis. There are more Toyota taxis there. If you look in the taxi there, there is an LED display installed in the front. We had him install the thing in the car here. Along with getting it installed, we also did a lot of research about the advertisements and things related to it. We also worked on the color of the vehicles. Indian cars are often gray or white, whereas in Thailand and Singapore you will also find cars in pink and blue colors. So we worked on that detail also. Had joined the team in June last year. Our post production went on for 3 months. After that the shooting of the film took place. I would like to tell you that even during the shooting of the film, a lot of changes kept happening, so we had to deal with that every day.
Alia has done 70 percent of the action herself
Alia and her sister Shaheen are also producers of this film. Because of which Alia was completely interested not only in acting but also in other things. What will be their clothes? What will be their action scenes? How will she speak the dialogue? We used to sit together and brainstorm on all these and then she would give her ideas. Used to listen to Point of View. After that the scene was shot. This is the first action film of Alia Bhatt's career. The action director of this film is Vikram Dahiya. A lot of security precautions were taken during the shooting. Cars are flying in the movie. Are clashing. Along with this, chase is also being done. Along with this, there is also hand to hand fight. Alia has done 70 percent of the action herself and the rest has been done by her body double. There are some things in action which a normal actress cannot do. For example, if the vehicles are flying or coming out of fire, then the actor cannot sit in them. Fits body double only.
Left corporate job and chose films
I grew up in Jamshedpur. I got my education from Loyola School. My father was in the police, due to which he kept getting transferred to many places, but so that our studies were not affected, my mother stayed in Jamshedpur with my brothers and sister. I became fond of theater in school and college itself, but had not thought about making a career of it. I went to Manipal, Karnataka to pursue my engineering. I started working in software in Karnataka itself but I was not feeling like it. I did a diploma course in film making along with my job and started making short films with my friends there, which everyone started liking. At that time I felt that perhaps I could progress in this field and then came to Mumbai in 2018. Worked in the music industry for some time. His first film as an assistant director was Dog. After that, Sam's family was worried at first. Now they feel that he will do something good in future also. The way I am getting associated with big films one after the other.
Because of this, the struggle of small town people becomes bigger.
It is often heard that people of small towns have to struggle more. I would also say that it is true that people of small towns have to struggle more. It is not a matter that no one wants to give you work in Mumbai or will forcefully push you back, but the thing is that due to being a small city, you have got less exposure, due to which you do not know many things. How do you get into the industry? It takes time for you to reach that medium, whereas this is not the case with the people of big cities. Having said this, I would also like to say that right now the situation is getting quite good. Even small cities are getting exposure now.
I would like to bring an image of Jharkhand and Bihar different from crime on screen.
Talking about the future, I would like to work as an assistant director for now. This will help financially and will also create contacts in the industry. I have signed Meghna Gulzar's film as an assistant director for my next film. She said that she would like to join the same team as Sam Bahadur, after which I have been entered in his next film also. Along with this, I am also working on my scripts. After that is completed, I will approach the producers. I would like to bring the story of Jharkhand and Bihar in my story. Till now Bihar and Jharkhand have been shown more in crime. I will show Bihar and Jharkhand separately. I have my own city. The Bihar and Jharkhand that I know. Will bring that on screen. Amidst the busy schedule of Mumbai, I definitely come to Jamshedpur once a year, because being there gives me a lot of peace and also gives me energy to work in Mumbai.
