kanguva movie review: This year's much awaited Pan India film Kanguva has hit the theaters. Many things were being talked about about the making and treatment of the film. It was being claimed that it would bring to the screen the story of a period drama that had never been seen or heard before. Well, in terms of hearing, be it the BGM of this film or the characters, they are screaming in a way that has never been heard before. This film with weak writing has just a lot of action. Drama and emotion is completely missing.
The story will remind you of many Pan India films
The film starts from 1018 but within a few seconds the story reaches 2024. The entire film runs by connecting both these timelines simultaneously. There is a child named Zeta. In whose mind some experiment is going on. Because of which he also has some strange powers. He somehow extricates himself from that experiment and reaches Goa. Where he meets Francis (Surya). He has some connection with his past life. The story goes back thousands of years to show this connection. Kanguva is a tribal king. Who fights to protect his people and his land not only from the Romans but also from the king of another tribe, Udhiran (Bobby Deol). In that war with Udhiran, Kanguva has to pay a heavy price. Whose connection is currently with that child. Why so much experiment has been done in the mind of that child. Who is doing that experiment with that child? What is his purpose? Does he know the past of Kanguva and that child. The answers to all these questions will be in the second part of the film.
The film has become a heap of flaws.
This is a Pan India film and glimpses of many Pan India films can be seen in it. The world of Kanguva seems to be the world of the violent tribal character of Baahubali. Surya's character in the film is a bounty hunter and the experiments with the child are shown. She also reminds me a little of Kalki. Sometimes the film also turns on the Magadheera mode. So the place of five islands in the recent release Devra is here too. This film, which has a glimpse of many Pan India films, is very cumbersome in its first half hour. The way social media memes have been used for comedy in the screenplay. He teases more than makes you laugh. When the period story starts in the film, there is hope in the film, but soon that hope is also dashed. The writing of the film is very weak. You do not feel connected to the story of the film and the emotions related to it. There is a huge lack of buildup in the story. It just seems that one scene is being followed by another. Be it the look of Bobby Deol's character or his introduction, the film has been made very long and strong, but justice has not been done to him in the story of the film. Along with the story and screenplay of the film, it would be more correct to say sound, sorry noise. This is also a weak aspect. Along with the BGM of the film being loud, the characters are also screaming a lot. Yes, good work has been done in the action scenes. Be it the scene of Kanguva alone fighting against 500 people in the forest or the action scenes by the female characters, the scenes have been well designed. The action scene was completely perfect. It is not like that either. Be it the action scene involving the cargo ship in the climax or the entire sequence of killing the crocodile, the VFX has remained weak in both these scenes. The good aspects of the film are its cinematography which makes Kangwa look beautiful on the screen. The songs of the film are average.
Surya's acting is the only saving grace of the film.
Talking about acting, this film is of Surya and he is playing a double role in the film. He is seen in the roles of Francis and Kanguva. He leaves a mark in the role of Kanguva. There is no doubt about it. His facial expressions and aggression make the character effective. Yes, his look in the character of Francis is striking. Bobby Deol has been fine in his role. There was nothing much for him to do, so there was nothing for actress Disha Patani to do. Rest of the characters do justice to their roles. Karthi is seen a few minutes before the end of the film. There will be a fight between Surya and him in the second part of the film.
